9-Wicket Backyard Croquet Tournament

Free and open to the public.
Registration is preferred, and walk-ins are welcome.
Spectators are also welcome. Bring your own lawn chair. Refreshments provided.
Croquet attire suggested.
Tournament details
The Court is 50 x 25 ft.
A team is comprised of 2 players or a family. (Singles will be paired.) Regardless of number of players on the court, only 4 balls will be in play. Family members rotate turns.
Single elimination.
Start of game based on coin flip. Winner of the flip gets to choose blue (first hit) or red (second hit.)
Extra shots
1 for completely through the wicket
1 for the end stake
2 for any other ball (own team or opposition)
House rule -- take your 2 shots from where your ball landed
Out of bounds
House rule -- place ball back inside the boundary one mallet head length from where it went out.
Scoring
1 point when a ball goes through a wicket in the correct order and correct direction
1 point for each end stake
a total of 32 points per team
Winning
The team that scores 32 points first OR the team with the most points at the end of 20 minutes.
